Rock Lobster pot
Description
A recreational Rock Lobster pot is a beehive shaped pot. It has one entrance and gaps to allow undersized species to escape.

Specifications
A maximum of 2 pots can be registered per person.
Maximum width: 1.5 m
Maximum height: 1.2 m
Mouth of the pot: must be at the top.
Escape gap requirements:
- there must be 2 escape gaps on opposite sides of the pot
- the tops of the escape gaps must be no more than 11 cm from the base of the pot.
Southern zone
Escape gap minimum dimensions: 15 cm wide by 5.5 cm high.
If there are no escape gaps the pot must be covered in a mesh that will easily allow a 5 cm cylindrical rod to pass through.
Northern zone
Escape gap minimum dimensions: 28 cm wide by 5.7 cm high.

Sea lion exclusion device
Sea lion exclusion devices are mandatory for using pots in the northern zone at less than 100 m in depth.
A sea lion exclusion device:
- is a metal rod that is securely fastened to the centroid of the base of the pot
- extends perpendicular to a height of no less than level with the base of the neck of the pot.
Marking
Rock Lobster pots must be tagged with:
- 1 red buoy that is 4 L in volume
- 1 current registration tag displaying the registration number.
