Snapper catch

Snapper fishing in the South East Fishing Zone (SEFZ)

Snapper fishing is only permitted in the SEFZ.

A Snapper total allowable catch (TAC) is in place for the recreational, commercial and charter fishing sectors in the SEFZ. Snapper fishing will be closed for each sector if the respective share of the TAC is reached prior to 30 June 2023.

From 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024, the recreational fishing share of the TAC, including 10% carry over of uncaught Snapper from 2022-23, equates to 8,003 kg or 4,042 individual Snapper.

Mandatory Snapper reporting

You must report all Snapper catches.

Go to fishing limits to view Snapper daily personal, bag and boat limits.
