Fishcare volunteers they're the unsung heroes on the recreational fishing scene.
They’re PIRSAs fish care volunteers and they’re a familiar sight along South Australia's jetties, beaches, rivers and at popular community events.
Easily recognizable in their blue uniforms volunteers are regularly out and about armed with important fishing information.
They provide fishers with advice and assistance on recreational fishing issues, and help promote the need to protect and preserve our fish stocks.
[Toni Manning Fishcare Volunteer Coordinator]
Fishcare volunteers are part of the education arm of PIRSA fisheries. Our knowledgeable and passionate volunteers across the state play a vital role in educating fishers about the rules and regulations of fishing in South Australia.
[Voiceover]
It's all about educating rec fishers through face-to-face contact providing important advice and assistance. It's all to help anglers understand how they can ensure future generations of fishers enjoy healthy and sustainable fish stocks.
Volunteers are also introducing many fishers to a recreational fishing smartphone app, which provides a complete guide for anyone wishing to fish in South Australian waters.
[Chris Coulson Fishcare volunteer]
