Snapper is an iconic fish in South Australia and important for commercial, recreational, charter boat and Aboriginal traditional fishers.
Management measures are in place to secure the long-term future of the Snapper fishery for all South Australian fishers.

Spencer Gulf / West Coast
Closed to fishing.
Gulf St Vincent
Closed to fishing.
Management arrangements after 30 June 2026 will be informed by the next Snapper stock assessment delivered in November 2025.
South East
The South East region is managed under a total allowable catch (TAC) which is divided among sectors based on the regional allocations determined through the Marine Scalefish Fishery reform.

Snapper fishing is only permitted in the South East fishing zone (SEFZ). You must report all Snapper catches.
