Disposing of opera house yabby nets (yabby pots)

The metal frames of the Opera House nets can be recycled, but should be dismantled to an appropriate size and have the netting removed before being placed in domestic recycling bins. Mesh netting is not currently recyclable.

RecFish SA, in partnership with Green Adelaide, ran an Opera House Round Up to incentivise removing old nets and switching to pyramid nets. This program has now been completed but some local councils are running distinct exchange programs.

If you have an opera house style yabby net (yabby pot) that is no longer permitted for use, you can responsibly dispose of your device or keep an eye out for council run exchanges advertised through RecFish SA, or your local council.
