Statewide restrictions

It is illegal to take any fish using the following together:

  • a wire trace with a gauge of 2 mm or larger
  • a fishing hook larger than size 12/0.

Metropolitan shark fishing

Metropolitan shark fishing restrictions prohibit:

  • the use of any wire trace
  • the use of a monofilament trace larger than 1 mm in diameter
  • hooks with a shank length greater than 56 mm or a gape larger than 23 mm
  • a combination or gang of hooks joined by threading the point of one through the eye of another.

These restrictions apply:

  • between 5 am and 9 pm daily
  • from the southernmost breakwater at Outer Harbour to Yankalilla Bay.
