Error messages

The following Valuation Numbers are not valid [Valuation Numbers] – If you added them, please check that you have typed them correctly

Valuation Number rule

Only Valuation Numbers that are current are accepted.

What you need to do

A Valuation Number may be invalid because:

  • you have made a mistake in typing in the Valuation Number
  • the Valuation Number is no longer current because it has been replaced by one or more Valuation Numbers that are now the current Valuation Numbers.

You will need to remove any invalid Valuation Numbers and replace them by adding the current Valuation Numbers.

Check your Council Rate or Emergency Services Levy notice to:

  • get a list of your current Valuation Numbers
  • ensure that you have not mistyped a Valuation Number – a Valuation Number is either 10 digits or 9 digits followed by an asterisk (*).

If you are still having issues, please save your application and contact the PIRSA PIC Registration Team.

At least one Valuation Number must be in the PIC zone specified by the first two digits of your PIC

Valuation Number rule

South Australia is divided up into 57 PIC Zones which are numbered from 10 to 85.

A producer PIC (e.g. SA101234) must have at least 1% of a Valuation Number, as measured by area, in the PIC Zone specified by the first two digits of the PIC (i.e. 10).

What you need to do

You can view the location of a Valuation Number on a map by following the instructions for checking a Valuation Number.

You can then determine which PIC Zone it is in by viewing the SA PIC Zones and Hundreds Regions map (PDF 171.8 KB).

Check your Council Rate or Emergency Services Levy notice to ensure you have added all Valuation Numbers on which you have, or will have, livestock for this PIC. If you have done so, then you may have sold the last Valuation Number which was in the PIC Zone specified by the first two digits of your PIC.

If you no longer have stock on at least one Valuation Number in the PIC Zone, specified by the first two digits of your PIC, then you will need to:

  • cancel your PIC by notifying PIRSA’s PIC Registrations Team in writing (email or letter), stating the reason for cancellation
  • check our PIC page for instructions on how to apply for a new PIC.

Your Valuation Numbers are on different sides of the Spencer Gulf or the Gulf of St Vincent – Different PIC rules apply in these situations

Valuation Number rule

Valuation Numbers on both sides of Spencer Gulf, or the Gulf of St Vincent, can only be included on the same PIC if they are in the PIC Zones immediately adjacent to the top of the Gulf. For example:

  • for Spencer Gulf – PIC Zones 71 and 58
  • for the Gulf of St Vincent – PIC Zones 52 and 36.

What you need to do

You can view the location of a Valuation Number on a map by following the instructions for checking a Valuation Number.

You can then determine which PIC Zone it is in by viewing the SA PIC Zones and Hundreds Regions map (PDF 171.8 KB).

If you have Valuation Number on both sides of Spencer Gulf, or the Gulf of St Vincent, and they are not in the PIC Zones specified above, then you will need two PICs – one for one side of the gulf and another for the other side of the gulf.

You need to:

  • remove the Valuation Numbers that do not comply with the above Valuation Number rule – these are most likely to be Valuation Numbers that you have added
  • check our PIC page for instructions on how to apply for a PIC if you do not already have a PIC for the Valuation Numbers that you removed.

Valuation Numbers on Kangaroo Island and mainland South Australia cannot be included on the same PIC

Valuation Number rule

If you have PIC with a Valuation Number on Kangaroo Island then all Valuation Numbers must be on Kangaroo Island.

What you need to do

You need to:

  • remove the Valuation Numbers that are not on Kangaroo Island
  • check our PIC page for instructions on how to apply for a PIC if you do not already have a PIC for the Valuation Numbers that you removed.

For a producer PIC where at least one Valuation Number is in the Hundreds region, all Valuation Numbers must be within 100 km of each other

Valuation Number rule

For a producer PIC, with at least one Valuation Number within the Hundreds region of SA, all Valuation Numbers must be within 100 km of each other as measured from the centre (centroid) of each Valuation Number.

What you need to do

You can view the location of a Valuation Number on a map by following the instructions for checking a Valuation Number.

You can then determine if it is in the Hundreds or Out of Hundreds region by viewing the SA PIC Zones and Hundreds Regions map (PDF 171.8 KB).

You need to:

  • remove the Valuation Numbers that are further than 100 km from your other Valuation Numbers – these are most likely to be Valuation Numbers that you have added
  • check our PIC page for instructions on how to apply for a PIC if you do not already have a PIC for the Valuation Numbers that you removed.

For a producer PIC where all Valuation Numbers are in the Out of Hundreds region, the distance between the closest boundary of a Valuation Number to that of its nearest neighbouring Valuation Number must be within 100 km

Valuation Number rule

For a producer PIC where all Valuation Numbers are in far north regional SA (in the Out of Hundreds region), the distance between the closest boundary of a Valuation Number to that of its nearest neighbouring Valuation Number must be within 100 km.

For a non-producer PIC where at least one Valuation Number is in the Hundreds region, all Valuation Numbers must be within 5 km of each other

Valuation Number rule

For a non-producer PIC (i.e. for an abattoir, saleyard or showground), where at least one Valuation Number is within the Hundreds region of SA, all Valuation Numbers must be within 5 km of each other as measured from the centre (centroid) of each Valuation Number.

For a non-producer PIC where all Valuation Numbers are in the Out of Hundreds region, the distance between the closest boundary of a Valuation Number to that of its nearest neighbouring Valuation Number must be within 5 km

Valuation Number rule

For a non-producer PIC (i.e. for an abattoir, saleyard or showground), where all Valuation Numbers are in far north regional SA (in the Out of Hundreds region), the distance between the closest boundary of a Valuation Number to that of its nearest neighbouring Valuation Number must be within 5 km.
