Five more community projects from regional South Australia are set to receive grants from the State Government's $600,000 Thriving Communities Program.
Part of the Thriving Regions Fund, the program is about improving quality of life in regional communities and is aimed at facilitating small projects that build social wellbeing, resilience, and greater community participation.
Initiatives can include new or improved infrastructure, plant and equipment, access to services and programs, or events with wellbeing outcomes.
The successful projects from the fourth round of the Thriving Communities Program are:
- The Bungala Aboriginal Corporation for its Bungala Training, Employment and Healthy Meals Project to purchase equipment for newly purchased premises ($47,635)
- Barossa Valley Community Kids to install cafe-style blinds to use in an undercover outside area to cost effectively enable them to increase their child-minding capacity ($28,621)
- The National Trust of South Australia – Willunga Branch for construction of an all-weather shelter in their Wirra Creek Garden ($31,196)
- Girl Guides South Australia Inc to upgrade the Renmark Guide Hall: re-roofing, re-cladding, electrical works, fix windows, replace water tank, and demolish redundant chimney and external toilet ($50,000)
- Loxton Netball Club to build a fully enclosed, sheltered, and inclusive children's playground that will be available to all ($38,000)
