Get the latest PIRSA information at the SE Field Days

Thursday 14 March 2024

All the latest information and advice on biosecurity, drought management, and fisheries and aquaculture will be available at the Primary Industries and Regions South Australia (PIRSA) tent at the South East Field Days this week.

Held at Lucindale’s Yakka Park on Friday, 15 March, and Saturday, 16 March, PIRSA will be among the 500 exhibitors at the renowned 2-day agriculture event.

Experts will share details about PIRSA’s activity in the South East, as well as Fishcare Volunteers with information on the response and current fishing restrictions in place due to the Abalone Viral Ganglioneuritis (AVG) outbreak.

Fisheries and aquaculture staff will be on hand to answer any general fishing related questions and visitors can receive free recreational fishing information and gauges.

Our animal health team will have all the latest information about our preparedness for emergency animal diseases and one of our new rapid biosecurity response trailers will be on display.

Members of the drought hub team will be in attendance, ready to chat about the latest drought planning and projects. The South Australian Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub is responsible for driving extension of existing knowledge and practices to build drought resilience in primary production systems.

The PIRSA tent will also have information on some relevant programs from outside the department including:

  • drumMUSTER – an agricultural stewardship program for recycling used AgVet chemical containers. Since 1999, the program has expanded to over 800 collection sites around Australia, recycling over 42 million AgVet containers. Our display provides information on the program and visitors to the stand can pick up a handy drum spanner.
  • SafeWork SA – advisors will provide free advice and resources covering a variety of topics for workers and employers. Representatives from Cancer Council SA will also join.
  • Marine Safety SA – get all your boating information for operating safely. Find out which lifejacket and safety equipment you need, and how to share the water safely with all users. Our Marine Safety Officers will be on board to answer all your questions. Subscribe to our Marine Safety SA online newsletter to go into the draw to win a new lifejacket.
  • The Mining and Quarrying Occupational Health and Safety Committee (MAQOHSC) – promoting high work health and safety standards to prevent injury and disease in the mining and quarrying industry within South Australia.

The PIRSA tent will be located at Site 269 Fisher Street, Lucindale.
