Agtech on show in the Barossa and Loxton

Wednesday 14 June 2023

The latest in AgTech targeting vineyards and orchards will be on show today (Wednesday 14 June) at the Nuriootpa Research Centre and on Friday at the Loxton Research Centre (Friday 16 June).

The free field days will help orchard growers, almond growers, and grape and wine producers better understand how technology can provide a range of solutions to production challenges, including in response to a changing climate.

AgTech is a rapidly evolving option for primary production as new tools and technology are developed to allow agribusiness to innovate, grow and adopt more efficient production practices.

With a complete focus on viticulture, the Barossa Pruning Expo and AgTech Field Day will follow the South Australian Pruning Championships – a landmark event supported by Barossa Australia and Wine Australia. The field day will feature a viticulture trade show and series of workshops diving into tech solutions specific to production challenges in the region including precision farming tools, crop monitoring systems and autonomous machinery.

The Loxton AgTech Field Day will cover the value proposition and return on investment of AgTech solutions, key considerations when deciding on AgTech investment, and will provide the opportunity to engage with a range of technology providers.

It is currently estimated that increasing the uptake of AgTech among all agricultural sectors could return up to $2.6 billion a year to the South Australian economy as producers utilise new ways to increase productivity and sustainability.

A range of technologies that support management decisions, sensors, imagery, smart farm equipment and disease detection will be displayed and demonstrated at both field days.

Registrations are required for the free AgTech Field Days. For further information and to register, see:
