From today, more regional South Australians will have access to subsidised installation of a mobile signal boosting device, to help increase mobile connectivity in the Riverland.
A joint initiative of the Government of South Australia and Telstra, the Mobile Network Extension Devices Pilot Program provides a subsidy for installation of Telstra GO Repeaters.
The devices can be installed at a home or business and will help improve mobile reception by amplifying the network signal a mobile device receives. They will also be able to help people connect to the Telstra Mobile Network from further away than normally possible, or in areas where the signal may struggle to penetrate.
Residents and business owners in the eligible council areas can get in contact with Telstra to understand the best solution for their location. If a mobile repeater solution is suitable for their situation, their investment is only the purchase of the Telstra GO Repeater, either outright or through a monthly payment option.
Minister for Regional Development Clare Scriven said she was pleased the State Government has been able to partner will Telstra to the Renmark Paringa, Berri Barmera, Loxton Waikerie, and Mid Murray Councils along the flood-affected River Murray. It has also opened to Yorke Peninsula councils and remains open in the Adelaide Hills and Mt Barker areas.
