Stripping and binding wheat crop near Roseworthy; ready to thresh and winnow to harvest the grain. The horse drawn machine is a ground driven reaper-binder.

The first sunshine harvester was built in 1890s. The sunshine combine harvesters that became common from the 1920s were designed to cut, thresh and winnow the grain to separate it from the straw and chaff. Horse-drawn machinery remained in use in some areas until into the 1950s.
