    Dr Richard McGarvey is the Sub-program Leader for Fisheries Modelling at SARDI Aquatic Sciences. The role is responsible for assessment and harvest strategy evaluation of, principally, South Australia…

    Dr Richard McGarvey is the Sub-program Leader for Fisheries Modelling at SARDI Aquatic Sciences. The role is responsible for assessment and harvest strategy evaluation of, principally, South Australian fish stocks. We design, program and run statistical fishery population models and other data analysis, with application to bioeconomics, survey design, fish movement, and growth. We work closely with PIRSA Fisheries and Aquaculture to inform economically and ecologically sustainable management of wild stock fishery resources.

    Dr Simon Bawden is Leader of the Livestock Innovation and Welfare Science Program within SARDI Livestock and Farming Systems. He is responsible for oversight of new research programmes with a focus on innovative solutions to livestock production efficiency and improvement of the welfare of production animals. The Science Program utilises multidisciplinary approaches which rely upon high level in-house expertise in contemporary livestock production systems, assisted reproduction, genetics, genomics and molecular biology and has strong national and international collaborations and funding.

    Associate Professor David Stone joined SARDI in 2007 and leads industry-focused research into aquaculture nutrition and feed technology. The major goals of this research are to: 1 Expand the cost effective utilisation of sustainable ingredients in aquafeeds for a range of marine and freshwater species; 2 Develop cost effective feeding strategies in relation to season and life stage; 3 Improve nutritional health; and 4 Positively influence product quality by dietary intervention. David manages several existing strategic multi-partner research programs with the Australian Yellowtail Kingfish and Abalone aquaculture industries, and is affiliated with the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, University of Adelaide and the College of Science & Engineering at Flinders University.
