Pastoral Board Communiqué – June 2020
Work begins on $25m Dog Fence rebuild
The recent announcement that work has begun on the $25 million rebuild of the South Australian Dog Fence was welcomed by the Pastoral Board. The rebuild is one of the State’s biggest infrastructure projects and a critical boost for the pastoral industry.
It is estimated the rebuild will reduce the number of sheep losses in pastoral areas and increase income from sheep sales by up to $69.7 million over a 20-year period. Read more about the rebuild of the Dog Fence.
Keep an eye out for your 2019–2020 stock return forms
Pastoral Board stock return forms will be posted to all lessees in mid June and must be returned to the Pastoral Unit by 31 July 2020, as required by the Pastoral Act.
Remember – stock returns must be filled in accurately and are a statutory declaration. They must be signed by the lessee rather than the lease manager or sub-lessee, and also must be signed by an appropriate authorised witness. This year, the list of authorised witnesses that can be used has expanded. Further details will be provided with the form.
For further information on this year’s stock return contact a Pastoral Officer on (08) 8648 5316 or email PIRSA.Pastoral@sa.gov.au
