Sheep Industry Fund approved projects 2019-20

The Minister has approved the release of $3.17 million from the Sheep Industry Fund in 2019-20 for projects to benefit South Australia’s sheep industry as recommended by the SA Sheep Advisory Group as follows:

Animal health

  • Footrot Management Program - $754,905
  • Enhanced Abattoir Surveillance (EAS) Program - $439,114
  • Farm Biosecurity & Endemic Disease Management Program $239,675
  • National Sheep Health Declaration Booklet Printing - $14,310
  • Sheep Lice Compliance Program - $160,000
  • Toxoplasma Control & Prevention Program - $32,000

Traceability

  • National Livestock Identification Scheme (NLIS) Compliance Program - $372,095

Predator control

  • Dog Fence Maintenance Program - $244,419
  • Biteback Wild Dog Control Program - $186,536
  • Wild Dog Trapper Program - $37,500
  • Box Flat Wild Dog Control Program - $5,100

Industry advocacy

  • Industry Advocacy - $399,484

Industry development

  • Red Meat and Wool Growth Program - $150,000
  • Enhancing Mixed Farming Enterprise (EMFE) Project - $30,000
  • SheepConnect SA Communications - $32,000
  • Merino Sire Eating Quality Evaluation - $23,000
  • SA Sheep Expo 2020 - $11,500
  • Farm Gross Margin Guide Update 2020 - $5,600
  • WoolTAG Toolbox  - $5,000
  • Small projects - $30,000

In addition to program funding, the Minister has also approved expenditure from the Sheep Industry Fund in 2019-20 for fund administration, advisory group expenses, refund payments and funding provisions relating to the transition of governance and administration to Livestock SA.

Details of actual fund expenditure will be published in the 2019-20 Sheep Industry Fund Annual Report and made available on the PIRSA website once this report has been tabled in Parliament.
