November 2019 Hail Storm in the Riverland
Hail storm support for producers
A number of services and avenues for assistance are available to support growers affected by the hail storm in the Riverland in November 2019.
- Family and Business (FaB) Support Program
- Farm Household Allowance
- Health and wellbeing
- Rural Financial Counselling Service
The hail storm created substantial damage to the Riverland farms which affected crops including stone fruit, grapes, citrus and nuts.
To assist growers affected, PIRSA is working with local stone fruit producers in a hygiene operation on their properties to remove damaged fruit from their trees.
Clean-up and strict on-farm hygiene is critical in fruit fly prevention and are part of a suite of proactive measures being undertaken for the 2019–20 season.
