Fishery Permit - Turbo Shell

Consultation on the proposed fishery permit has now closed.

Feedback was sought on 3 applications for developmental fishery permits to harvest Turbo Shell in South Australian waters.

Turbo Shell is a sea snail that inhabits rocky reefs in South Australia's temperate waters.

A small number of fishers have been given exemptions to harvest Turbo Shells since 2000. They are limited to hand collection with individual total allowable catches.

An Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD) risk assessment is part of the assessment process for exploratory or developmental permit applications. The ESD risk assessment has been completed and a draft report was also presented for feedback.
