Feral Pig Eradication Program on Kangaroo Island

Feral pigs are an established pest on Kangaroo Island causing severe economic and environmental impacts to Kangaroo Island’s farms and native ecosystems.

The bushfires reduced the number of feral pigs on the island, but they have already started breeding.

The $2.67 million Feral Pig Eradication Program has been established with the aim to remove the pest from the island.

The three year program is a partnership between Primary Industries and Regions SA and the Kangaroo Island Landscape Board and will see 4 new operational staff on Kangaroo Island.
