Cattle Industry Fund transition to industry
A new process is in place for Cattle Industry Fund expenditure from 2020–21 onwards following a period of transition during 2019–20.
This new process, recommended by industry, will create more opportunities for co-investment and build greater accountability to industry.
The new process has seen Livestock SA establish three subcommittees:
- Selection Committee – which makes recommendations regarding the membership of the Industry Fund Boards.
- Cattle Industry Fund Board.
- Sheep Industry Fund Board.
With the establishment of the Cattle Industry Fund Board the SA Cattle Advisory Group was formerly ceased on 2 June 2020.
The Industry Fund boards will make recommendations regarding fund expenditure, and Livestock SA will submit an application outlining these recommendations to the Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development for approval. Following approval, payments will be made from the Cattle Industry Fund to Livestock SA who will disburse funds to industry projects according to the recommendations of the Cattle Industry Fund Board.
