Become a Fishcare volunteer and help to ensure South Australia’s oceans, rivers and lakes are enjoyed sustainably for future generations.

Become a Fishcare volunteer and help to ensure South Australia’s oceans, rivers and lakes are enjoyed sustainably for future generations.

The call has gone out for Riverland locals to join the program, which helps recreational fishers understand fishing rules and management arrangements.

Volunteers travel along the beach and river to share information about fisheries management arrangements including size, bag, and boat limits, and fishery closures. They also give out gauges, and information brochures.

In the Riverland, local volunteers share information about fishing in both inland and coastal waters.

Fishcare volunteers can be based anywhere, but it’s ideal if they have easy access to Berri, Barmera or Loxton.

Anyone over the age of 18 with an interest in conserving our fisheries resources who is willing to help provide information to the fishing public, and give at least 50 hours of your time a year can become a volunteer. Full training is provided, and no prior experience or knowledge of fishing is required.

If you want to learn more see Fishcare volunteers or chat to the volunteers at the upcoming Riverland Field Days.
