Other health issues

A range of herd health issues has arisen periodically over the years with some of the current issues being as follows:

  • Marree disease, annual ryegrass toxicity and flood plain staggers are three plant related problems which have plagued cattle producers from the north of the State to the lower South East causing losses for individuals and difficulty in diagnosing their cause for many years.
  • In recent years the risk of enzootic bovine leucosis infecting beef herds has resulted in a number of surveys to establish its prevalence with the result to date of no occurrences.
