In May 2008, Minister McEwen visited China as part of an overseas trade delegation. The group visited Shanghai, Guangzhou, Macau and Hong Kong.  The delegation met with various wine companies, many of whom import Australian produce.  Wine masterclasses were held in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, focussing on regional South Australian wines.

China is an increasingly important market for Australian wine companies and this report provides information to the wine industry about the emerging Chinese market.

The Wine ScoreCard is a tool, developed by PIRSA, that evaluates the contribution made by the wine industry to South Australia's economy from production to consumption.  This economic analysis enables us to estimate the value of production; imports; inter-State trade and changes to stocks; retail sales; and the contribution made by the hospitality sector.
