The Grape and Wine ScoreCard is a tool, developed by PIRSA, that evaluates the contribution made by the wine industry to South Australia's economy from production to consumption. This economic analysis enables estimation of the value of production; imports; inter-State trade and changes to stocks; retail sales; and the contribution made by the hospitality sector. For further information please contact Rob Esvelt.

This report has been prepared by PIRSA’s Market and Industry Performance team in response to a request by the Langhorne Creek wine region to provide local grape growers and wine makers with an understanding of market opportunities and constraints in three key markets. The report aims to provide an on overview of the Australian, Canadian, and UK markets for Australian and South Australian wines and, where possible, Langhorne Creek wines.

Professor Andrew Fearne, Adelaide Thinker in Residence during 2008 used the Oxford Landing wine value chain from South Australia – the largest wine producing state in Australia – to Tesco – the largest supermarket customer for Australian wine in the UK – as a case study to explore using sustainable value chain analysis to better align allocation of resources with environmental management and consumers’ values.
