Legislation

Legislation is in place to provide for:

  • protection of vineyards from disease and to assist and support the grape industry in South Australia through the Phylloxera and Grape Industry Act 1995
  • marketing of wine grapes through the Wine Grapes Industry Act 1991
  • industry funds collected from members of a particular primary industry sector through the Primary Industry Funding Schemes Act 1998

Phylloxera and Grape Industry Act 1995

The Phylloxera and Grape Industry Act 1995 provides for the functions and powers of the Phylloxera and Grape Industry Board of South Australia. The board is funded by the State's grape growers and carries out important projects in the areas of phylloxera prevention, early detection, biosecurity and education.

Wine Grapes Industry Act 1991

The Wine Grapes Industry Act 1991 relates to the marketing of wine grapes. Under the Act, terms and conditions of payment by processors to producers have been fixed by Order of the Minister.

Primary Industry Funding Schemes Act 1998

The Primary Industry Funding Schemes Act 1998 made provision for a levy system to setup in the form of Wine Industry Funds to generate resources for industry development activities.
