Infrastructure considerations

An overview of the platform of infrastructure for South Australia is set out below. This includes what infrastructure is currently available for proposed developments, plans for future extensions, and sourcing of additional infrastructure needs.

To assist in the development of infrastructure the South Australian Government has an infrastructure fund that can provide funding for eligable projects. The Regional Development Infrastructure Fund (RDIF) provides financial support to projects that are a priority for economic development, with broad benefits for an industry or region.

The fund aims to encourage a strategic approach to infrastructure development. Grants or loans are available for up to 50% of eligible infrastructure costs. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that a project is consistent with the government's objectives for State and regional development. To determine this, applicants should review South Australia’s Strategic Plan and Strategic Infrastructure Plan for SA, and contact their Regional Development Board for relevant plans and strategies.

Information on energy, roads, ports, airports and utilities, as well as 'new capabilities' in the form of information technology and telecommunication facilities, is also available.
