21 April 2009
One of Australia's most beloved TV and film stars, Ernie Dingo, will be the guest presenter at the 2009 Jim Barry Clare Valley Tourism Excellence Awards on May 29th.
Clare Valley Regional Tourism Manager, Christine van der Jeugd, says she's excited to have such a high-profile tourism ambassador as guest presenter at the awards.
"Ernie Dingo is an Australian icon, and it's fantastic that he's willing to fly across the country to attend our awards - it should be a great night," she says.
Ernie Dingo says he's delighted to have been asked to be the guest presenter at the Clare Valley Tourism Awards.
"It's always great to discover new and exciting tourism products around this beautiful country of ours," he says.
"I'm also looking forward to tasting some of the magnificent Rieslings and enjoying some real country hospitality, both of which the Clare Valley is famous for."
The wine at the gala awards night will be provided by the major sponsor of the awards, Jim Barry Wines.
The Clare Valley Tourism Committee has received 50 nominations across 10 categories for the 2009 Jim Barry Clare Valley Tourism Excellence Awards - more than twice the number of nominations received last year.
The 2009 Clare Valley Regional Tourism Awards are aligned more closely with the State Tourism Awards this year, in line with feedback from the region's tourism operators.
Ms van der Jeugd says this will make it easier for operators to go on to nominate for the State Awards.
