20 December 2010
The South Australian Government is looking to appoint local people who are passionate about regional communities to a renewed Regional Communities Consultative Council (RCCC).
Regional Development Minister Michael O'Brien has called for public nominations for membership on the council for a period of up to three years.
The RCCC is an independent body that provides advice to the Minister on ways the Government and regional communities can better work together.
"One of the key functions of the RCCC is to support the Government's efforts to strengthen the capacity of communities to respond to emerging local issues and to maximise the competitive advantage of regional SA," Minister O'Brien says.
"This is an opportunity for enthusiastic people who care about regional issues to nominate for
membership of the council."
The Minister is seeking expressions of interest from people with regional industry or community experience, committed to the economic development and prosperity of South Australia's regions.
Advertisements will appear in regional newspapers during December, with nominations closing on January 14, 2011.
Appointments are expected to be made in February 2011.
Nomination forms can be collected at regional Councils, regional public libraries, Regional Development Australia offices or downloaded from http://www.southaustralia.biz/About-DTED/Boards-and-Councils.aspx#RCCC.
