Survey shows Hahndorf's popularity

Media Release | 18 July 2008

Nearly 9 out of 10 visitors to Hahndorf are so happy with their experience that they would recommend the tourist destination to others, according to the latest national survey.

The report released this month by Tourism Research Australia showed 84% of visitors were satisfied with their experience of Hahndorf - two per cent higher than the benchmark score of 82%.

Adelaide Hills Tourism's Marketing Manager, Dean Bagley, says he is delighted with results.

"This is proof that visitors love Hahndorf - and it's a great result for the Adelaide Hills region," he says.

Mr Bagley says that the welcoming atmosphere and variety of things to do in the town made it a popular tourist destination.

"Hahndorf is Australia's oldest surviving German settlement - but it's also a lot more than that," he says.

"Visitors can enjoy cheese tasting at Udder Delights, a hot chocolate at Chocolate @ No. 5, stock up on home-made jams at Beerenberg and explore the former home and studio of celebrated painter Sir Hans Heysen at The Cedars - just to name a few experiences!"

The Visitor Profile and Satisfaction Report looked at visitor satisfaction and profiles across seven regions in country South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.

The results for Hahndorf were based on a sample of 206 people who visited the region during September and October in 2007.
