Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Minister, Rory McEwen, has welcomed four new board members to the South Australian Citrus Industry Development Board.
Betty Lloyd, Linda Hausler, Scott Searles and Helen Aggeletos have been appointed, along with the return of Peter Walker as Presiding Officer, and current members, Graham McInness and Richard Fewster.
"Each Board member represents a broad cross section from the industry and possesses the knowledge and skills required to lead our citrus growers through challenging times ahead," Mr McEwen says.
Betty Lloyd is the owner and Managing Director of LD Lloyd & Sons Pty Ltd based at Lyrup. She has over 35 years experience in growing and marketing citrus, and is qualified in HACCP and Food Safety Awareness, business law, accounting and staff management. She is also a former board member of Quality Fruit Marketing Pty Ltd and committee member of the South Australian Avocado Growers Association.
As citrus grower from Morgan and founding member of the blood orange group, Linda Hausler has over 28 years experience in the citrus industry. She was a Riverland representative for the SACIDB from 2002 to 2006, and secretary for the crop estimates program. Through involvement with the Riverland West Local Action Planning Group, she was also instrumental in conducting irrigation surveys and mapping to guide improved water use efficiency.
Scott Searles is an Export Marketing Manager with Australian Quality Plus, involved in the marketing of citrus, mango, table grapes, avocado, stonefruit, persimmon and carrots. He is Chair of the Australian Horticultural Exporters Association and former Director of Riversun Export Co. He has also worked for Vitor Marketing Ltd. and Kangara Foods Ltd.
Helen Aggeletos has been the Marketing Manager and a Director of P Costi & Sons in Loxton for 19 years. She has extensive experience in the marketing of citrus in several domestic and 19 export destinations, and works closely with growers to achieve best practice pest and disease management to meet export protocols. She is also a former board member of Riversun Ltd.
Board members are selected for their extensive knowledge and experience in growing and or marketing citrus fruit and products and are appointed for a period of three years.
The Board was established in 2005 to provide advice to the government on the long-term strategic direction for the state's citrus industry.
