RCCC to meet in Loxton

15 September 2011

The new Regional Communities Consultative Council (RCCC) will hold its first meeting in Loxton in the State’s Riverland this week.

The meeting, to be held on September 23, is the first regional meeting since the RCCC was refreshed to give members a stronger advocacy role.

The RCCC was formed in 2002 to advise the government on regional issues.

The role for the RCCC is to advise on regional communities’ access to information on government initiatives, programs and services being delivered to regional SA.

The new council, to be lead by existing chairman Peter Blacker, will be more strategically focused and develop a targeted work plan looking into three or four key opportunities emerging in regional South Australia.

The Riverland was a fitting location to host the first regional meeting of the new RCCC, as the community rebuilds after devastating drought.

Advertisements have been placed in local newspapers in the Riverland inviting the public to meet and talk with the RCCC.

The program involves site visits and a community dinner to be held at Loxton on the evening of September 22.
