The Stepping into Leadership program has empowering over 80 women in agribusiness and regions across South Australia, building their capability and confidence and developing their leadership skills.
The program, sponsored by PIRSA and delivered by AG Consulting, is aimed at women who are taking their first steps into leadership. It focuses on enabling women to understand their personal skills and strengths, identify core values and assist them to build industry support networks through one on one coaching, mentoring and workshops throughout the year.
Many women who have completed the program have gone on to achieve great success in their careers. Read Lucy Goldspink’s, a program participant, feedback on this inspiring program.
The Stepping into Leadership Program has been the highlight the last 12 months for me. This program has provided me with networks, opportunities and alliances that I would have not had an opportunity to connect with otherwise. I live 700km North of Adelaide on a remote Cattle Station and trips to town are limited at best. This SIL program has enabled me to gain personal and professional momentum and achieve things I would never have thought possible.
Throughout the program, Jeanette Long has been my coach. She has assisted me with enhancing my communication skills and has been extremely encouraging throughout my new ventures. After getting to know me and deciphering the direction I want to take in my life, she paired me with my mentor, Penny Schultz who I would not have met otherwise. Penny has highlighted a few other programs which I have applied for. I am the successful recipient for the Australian Beef Industry Foundation Scholarship to attend the Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership Program in June. I have applied to be part of my local Natural Resource Management Group- SA Arid Lands.
I am also in the process of applying for the Cattle Council of Australia Rising Champions Initiative. Each one of these applications represent different aspects of my life and directions that I am willing to take, so I am very grateful to have been selected to participate in the SIL program and thrive as a result of it.
