The food and wine industry is South Australia's biggest asset, exporting products to over 100 countries, employing 1 in 5 working South Australians and generating $18.6 billion in revenue in 2015-16. Adelaide, South Australia has recently been invited to join the Great Wine Capitals Global Network, joining nine of the world's other major wine producing regions. South Australia is globally recognised for its premium quality food and wine, clean environment free of pests and diseases, high quality food safety standards, genetically modified free crops and world leading research and development programs.

South Australia's 6 main industry sectors are:

  • horticulture.
