Andrew Puglisi

Andrew Puglisi Andrew Puglisi is a sixth-generation fisherman and a part of one of Port Lincoln's most important fishing families. His father Bob helped establish both the Spencer Gulf southern prawn fishery and the Southern Bluefin Tuna industry.

Andrew continued a tradition of innovation when in 2000 he established what is now Kinkawooka Shellfish to farm mussels in the pristine waters of Boston Bay. About 80% of the product is sold domestically - you can buy it in pretty well every capital city - and the rest is exported to Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai and China.

Contributing to that success was the development of a vacuum packing system that enables the mussels to be in the hands of retailers within 48 hours of harvesting. It also helps that they're accredited for sustainability by Friend of the Sea.

Celebrity chefs rave about the company's pot ready mussels and the convenience they have created for the food industry.

Andrew believes his role as an Ambassador formalises his long-term support for a stronger, more cohesive fishing industry.

"I want to champion the seafood industry and take our products to the next level; I want all seafood producers everywhere to get on board with their products," he said.
