PIRSA Fisheries is reminding all recreational fishers of the bag and boat limits that currently apply to razorfish.
The reminder comes after Fisheries Officers expressed concerns at the number of local fishers who were not aware of the current catch limits.
The daily bag limit for razorfish is 25 per person and the daily boat limit (where three or more people are fishing from the boat) is 75.
These changes were introduced in December 2007.
PIRSA Fisheries Regional Manager West, Mr Andrew Carr, said that the decision to reduce both bag and boat limits was in response to reports of localised depletion of razorfish numbers in a number of regions.
“Recreational fishers need to make themselves aware of and abide by these limits at all times,” Mr Carr said.
“Fisheries Officers will be conducting patrols at known, local razorfish hot spots in the Lincoln National Park during the next couple of months.
“New signposting will also be installed at these locations to help remind fishers of the changes.”
Information about these and other fishing regulations is available in the current edition of the Recreational Fishing Guide booklet, available from local PIRSA Fisheries Offices, and on the PIRSA Fisheries web site www.pir.sa.gov.au/fishing.
