Primary Industries and Resources SA are currently assessing the situation in the Mount Bold area in relation to stock losses from the fire.
The extent of stock losses are unknown at this stage, but appear to be light.
The only confirmed stock losses at this time are two cows and five horses.
Further assessments will be available late today and tomorrow as PIRSA staff are able to safely access the affected area.
Farmers who need assessment of fire affected stock are advised to contact the PIRSA Flaxley office. Telephone 8391 7100.
The Executive Director of PIRSA’s Agriculture and Wine Division, Dr Don Plowman, said that all livestock owners in the vicinity of a fire should assess the safety conditions that prevail for their livestock.
Livestock should be carefully assessed for burns or injury after the fire front has passed and it is safe to do so.
Veterinary advice should be sought for any livestock that may be suffering from burns or other injuries after fire.
However, personal safety should be considered as a first priority on all occasions.
