Definitions

The following definitions apply to the South East Confined Aquifer Well Rehabilitation Scheme.

Eligible Plugging Costs means the cost incurred (excluding GST) by an approved contractor to abandon an existing artesian well(s). Ineligible costs include the applicants labour toward implementing the Work Plan and all costs associated with gaining suitable access to the well site.

Eligible Replacement Costs means the benchmark cost incurred by an approved contractor to replace an existing artesian well(s) with a new well based on the costs corresponding to the depth and diameter of the old well including an additional 20 metre depth to accommodate an adequate length of sandscreen. Benchmark costs have been established by the Department of Water, Land and Biodiversity Conservation taking into account well dimensions and depth. Ineligible costs include the applicants labour toward implementing the Work Plan together with all costs above the flange, including head-works and road access.

A Work Plan means a plan that fulfils the Scheme’s necessary requirements and is assessed to be satisfactory by the Department of Water Land and Biodiversity Conservation.

Project Area means the area comprising the Hundreds of Smith, Bray, Waterhouse, Conmurra, Ross, Townsend, Bowaka, Mount Benson, Woolumbool, Minecrow, Murrabinna, Lacepede, Marcollat, Peacock, Landseer, Duffield, Lochaber and Symon.

The State Authority means Prudential & Rural Financial Services, Primary Industries and Resources, South Australia, responsible for assessing applications for funding and administering those funds.

The Steering Committee means a group who are responsible for providing advice to the Minister for Water Resources on the implementation of the scheme and consists of local community members, representatives from the Department of Water Land & Biodiversity Conservation, Primary Industries and Resources South Australia and the South East Catchment Water Management Board and any other person considered appropriate by the Minister for Environment and Conservation,

An Approved Contractor means an authorised contractor listed on the approved register maintained by the Department of Water Land and Biodiversity Conservation.
