Onshore Seismic Data
In South Australia onshore seismic exploration activities are controlled by the South Australian Petroleum & Geothermal Energy Act 2000. Under this Act, all 'Basic data', including field data tapes and supporting documentation are made open file and available for third party use 2 years from the date of completion of the survey.
As a service to the oil exploration industry, field data tapes for all recently (1974+) digitally recorded onshore seismic surveys (2D and 3D) have been transcribed to ade-multiplexed SEG-Y format and are now available on Exabyte tape/cartridge at A$10 per line.
The Seismic Field Data spreadsheet (ZIP XLS - 0.5 MB) lists all of the Exabyte tapes/cartridges which are available from 2D and 3D seismic surveys from 1974 – 2005.
All associated field support data necessary for reprocessing the field data are also available upon request.

Offshore Seismic Data
All offshore exploration activities are controlled by the Commonwealth’s Offshore Petroleum & Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2006 (OPGGSA) and all data submitted under this Act are administered by the Federal Government agency, Geoscience Australia (GA). All requests for offshore data should be made through this agency.
