PACE 2004–2009: Highlights and achievements
- The Treasury and the South Australian Centre for Economic Studies conservatively estimate net economic benefit to SA in excess of $300m for an investment of $23m (November 2009)
- 335 proposals for drilling collaboration submitted over 5 rounds with 168 projects sharing in $10m of PACE funding
- Drilling success leading to discovery of the Carrapateena Cu-Au deposit - one of the best intersections anywhere in the world, extending the prospectivity corridor for IOCG mineral systems
- Substantial number of other PACE drilling successes - discoveries of uranium, copper-gold, gold, mineral sands, and iron ore deposits and water
- Record levels of exploration expenditure and drilling approvals: 1,314,219 m approved in 2008 (compared to 364,010 m in 2005)
- Release of new geoscience mapping and geophsyical data, including the largest gravity survey in Australia, leading to record take up of exploration licences
- Upgrade and development of on-line data and service through SARIG (the South Australian Resources Information Geoserver)
- Establishment of a new Chair and SA Centre for Mineral Exploration under Cover and a new Chair of Mining Geology
- Positive engagement with indigenous communities: new licences granted and exploration programs completed; funding of two tenement/ liaison officers in the APY; training of local workforce for site rehabilitation
- Global awareness of South Australian mineral prospectivity and the innovative and outstanding PACE success
- Fraser Institute top rankings; ResourceStocks top rankings: PACE nominated 'Digger of the Year' at Diggers & Dealers; SA Premier's Award for 'Growing Prosperity'
- PACE model copied by Victoria, Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia

PACE 2020
PIRSA is proposing the development of a new look PACE in 2010 with the focus on:
- Innovative geoscience - methods, maps and models
- Diversification of industry partnerships and collaborative research
- Education and training support
- Communication and promotion of the South Australian resources sector
PACE 2020 includes key areas of the initial PACE themes, including:
- Strong indigenous engagement and cultural awareness
- Collection of geophysical and geochemical data
- Access to geoscientific data - eliminating the obstacles of distance and time
