Beverley Mine Extension Proposal

Heathgate Resources Pty Ltd made an application pursuant to Section 35 of the Mining Act 1971 (“Act”) for a Mineral Lease over the area of MC3679-MC3739 (inclusive). The application surrounds the existing Mineral Lease 6036, Miscellaneous Purposes Licences 57, 58 and 59 and Retention Leases 18 and 19. The purpose of the new lease is to recover uranium. The 61 Mineral Claims are located on Lot 34, DP 42204, Wooltana Station, approximately 125 km NE of Leigh Creek.

The document “Mining Proposal for Proposed Extension of Beverley Mine” submitted by Heathgate Resources Pty Ltd in support of their application describes the type of operation proposed and the measures to rehabilitate the land.

The public consultation period for this proposal is complete, however you can still download the proposal.

Assessment Process

The proposal is currently being assessed under the South Australian Mining Act 1971 and the Commonwealth Environment, Biodiversity and Conservation Act 1999.

A Response Document has been prepared by Heathgate Resources Pty Ltd following public consulation on the Mining Proposal to satisfy the requirements of the South Australian Government for assessing the application under the Mining Act and the Commonwealth Government’s requirements for a Public Environmental Report (PER) under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act.

The Mining Proposal / Draft PER was released for public comment in January 2008.
