Mr Trevor Sykes

Trevor Sykes was one of Australia’s leading finance journalists until his retirement at the end of 2005. He has been Editor of The Bulletin, Editor-in-Chief of the Australian Business magazine, assistant editor of the Australian Financial Review and Melbourne Bureau Chief of the Australian Financial Review. He is also the creator of the well-known Pierpont column which he wrote – in the guise of a cynical old clubman – for 34 years, and still writes once a year.

Mr Sykes is the author of seven books about Australian financial scandals. He has also won six national awards for finance reporting.  He is currently a director of Mitchell Corporation, the largest trucking company in WA and is Director of the AusTex Oil Ltd. He is also Patron of the Sydney Mining Club.
