Mr Owen Hegarty

Mr Hegarty is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Oxiana Limited. He has over 35 years direct experience in the mining industry including 24 years with the Rio Tinto Group where from 1988 to 1993 he was Managing Director of Rio Tinto’s copper and gold mining and smelting business unit.

Mr Hegarty became Managing Director of Oxiana Limited in 1995. Mr Hegarty is Deputy Chairman of the Minerals Council of Australia and is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM). Mr Hegarty was awarded the 2005 AusIMM Institute Medal for his leadership and achievements in the mining industry.
