Theme 6 of PACE - Baseline Geochemical Survey - involves gathering existing data, then addressing gaps with new surveys.
Under theme 6 of PACE a substantial number of overlooked exploration samples (many of which are calcretes) have been acquired to produce an analytically consistent dataset for the most frequently desired elements, with a particular focus on calcretes from the Gawler Craton. Many of these samples had previously been analysed for gold, with the original company results loaded into the South Australian Government’s central database for all geological information (SA_GEODATA).
Due to the significant interest in the Gawler Craton the PACE re-analysis was widened to include a greater diversity of elements (notably uranium and nickel). Gold, arsenic, nickel, copper, uranium and vanadium were commonly considered to be of interest and to a lesser degree silver, tungsten, cobalt, molybdenum, lead, zinc, antimony, bismuth and platinum (palladium). Results from this project are currently available for public viewing and can be downloaded from the Gawler Craton pages on the South Australian Government minerals website.
