Mining Rehabilitation and Completion can be separated into two distinct areas:
For new and existing mining operations, the Mining Rehabilitation Branch will develop and implement policy and processes related to the government’s role in adopting the Ministerial Council on Mineral and Petroleum Resources' (MCMPR) 'Strategic Framework for Mine Closure' and develop management arrangements for strategic Extractive Areas Rehabilitation Fund issues.
The Rehabilitation Branch continues a comprehensive program that manages former mine sites and addresses issues of environmental and public safety.
This rehabilitation work is done in collaboration with other government Agencies.
