Reporting guidelines

Download the updated
Mineral Exploration Reporting Guidelines (.pdf 410.0kb, opens in new window)

These guidelines have been produced to assist exploration licence holders in the preparation and submission of statutory reports for Mineral Exploration Licences in South Australia

The guidelines are in line with national standards on the reporting of digital exploration data, and the content of exploration reports. The receipt of these reports in a standardised format and the data in digital form will enable a more efficient and cost effective data capture by government and will ultimately provide:

  • more consistent and complete reporting of activities by companies which operate in a number of states and territories within Australia
  • better and more timely data availability and thus more effective re-use by industry
  • more efficient data refining by DMITRE because the data will be more readily interpreted and easier to incorporate into DMITRE technical databases and promotional data packages to industry.

National digital data reporting standards and header generation software

Minerals and petroleum exploration reporting should conform to the national standard developed by the Chief Government Geologists' Committee (CGGC). This standard includes guidelines in relation to the submission of digital data (external site).

Software to facilitate the creation of geochemical, drilling and other point located data in the required templates has been developed to assist with complaince with the reporting guidelines.
