A range of new geophysical data sets have been generated for the Curnamona Province in South Australia and New South Wales through the Broken Hill Exploration Initiative (BHEI).
Airborne Magnetic SurveysThe Willyama Supergroup, which is concealed by less than 100 metres of sediments, has been covered by 100 metre line spaced data. Primary Industries and Resources South Australia (PIRSA) and Geoscience Australia (GA) flew similar sized surveys adjacent to the existing company survey. |

RadiometricsMagnetic and radiometric data were subsequently processed and merged to produce grid files to cover the main study area, which includes all of the available 100 metre data (new PIRSA and GA data), the company data in between, and parts of the surrounding 300 and 400 metre data sets. |
Gravity SurveysThe new gravity data provides a detailed coverage over a key portion of the study area. The area was surveyed on a 1 by 2 km grid in 1995; 3500 gravity stations were added to the southern portion of the study area. In 1996, a 1 by 1 km grid was put in place, adding a further 4500 stations to the northern half of the study area. Through the BHEI, the Curnamona Province now has the most detailed geophysical coverage of any area in South Australia. |
