RESIC Initiatives

2011 Infrastructure demand study

  • The 2011 study involves an extensive engagement and consultation process with industry to understand the anticipated demands on existing and new infrastructure.
  • The results of the investigation and scenario planning workshops will be used to develop recommendations to government that will bring the greatest benefit to the state.

2011 Infrastructure channel

  • A comprehensive online tool to provide information on South Australia's infrastructure has been developed to assist potential investors and bring new projects to the state. Users can access, query and interact with geospatial data, associated reports and other documents.
More about the new infrastructure channel
  • An audit (stocktake) of the state's current infrastructure (roads, rail, ports, air, water, gas, energy) underpins the channel. Information on the audit has been obtained through the cooperation of public and private agencies, and will be refreshed regularly.

2009 Infrastructure demand study

  • From an online survey of resource and infrastructure companies, data was collected on the current and future requirements of infrastructure (ports, roads, rail, power, gas, water, and telecommunications) for the resources sector.
  • Analysis will highlight impediments, and a basis to inform project developers’ investment decisions and government policy.

2009 Approvals workshop

  • Key representatives from government agencies and industry evaluated the approvals process for Iluka’s Jacinth Ambrosia project. The workshop identified what worked well, where impediments occurred and recommended strategies to address them.
  • Workshops of this kind will be held in the future with mining companies and government agencies to foster a leaner approvals regime that supports SA as a destination of choice for mining exploration and investment.

2008 Export facility scoping

  • A study of infrastructure requirements assumptions of the level of processing to be undertaken by South Australia’s resources sector and the preferred transport modes of export.
  • The study led to the expression of interest for the development of the Port Bonython Bulk Commodities Export Facility.

2008 Road access deed

  • Development of a template (Deed of Authorisation for Work and Maintenance on Specified Roads) which will enable companies to legally upgrade a public road.
