Who can enter?

The awards are open to all companies engaged with exploration and/or production in the oil, gas, geothermal and mining sectors in South Australia. Companies across this spectrum, irrespective of size and location are encouraged to submit an application.

Applicants should read the entry form carefully and address the criterion as comprehensively as possible to allow the judging panel to make an informed decision.

Why should I enter?

Entering the awards provides an opportunity to:

  • showcase your achievements in corporate social responsibility to industry and the South Australian community
  • evaluate your business and community engagement planning
  • receive recognition for your business excellence in improving social wellbeing
  • gain feedback on your implementation of corporate social responsibility strategies
  • highlight opportunities for further growth in corporate social responsibility activities
  • increase media and brand awareness

The winner of each award will receive a framed certificate signed by the Premier, presented to them at the SACOME Resources Industry Annual Dinner on 30 April 2012.

Conditions of entry

The awards are open to all companies engaged with exploration and/or production in the oil, gas, geothermal and mining sectors in South Australia

The following conditions of entry apply to all applicants:

  • Closing date for entries is 5pm Friday 13 April 2012. No late entries will be accepted.
  • Applicants should attend the SACOME Resources Industry Annual Dinner on 30 April 2012 for the awards presentation.
  • The Department for Manufacturing, Innovation, Trade, Resources and Energy (DMITRE) reserves the right to make any changes or final decisions regarding the awards.
  • Applicants may be asked to provide further documentation or evidence to support their application. 
  • Applicants may be asked to host the judging panel and/or dignitaries at their place of operations following the awards presentation.
  • Applicants acknowledge that DMITRE may use non-confidential details and/or photographs for publicity purposes pertaining to the awards.
  • Applicants acknowledge that DMITRE may distribute media releases to all media, who may request interviews of applicants.

Further information for applicants

The awards are open to all companies engaged with exploration and/or production in the oil, gas, geothermal and mining sectors in South Australia

  • Applicants who become finalists may be required to provide further documentation or evidence to support their application.
  • Finalists agree to attend the SACOME Gala Dinner on 4 May 2011, for the Award presentation.
  • Finalists may be asked to host the judging panel and/or dignitaries at their place of operations following the Award presentation.
  • Applicants acknowledge that DMITRE may use non-confidential details and/or photographs for publicity purposes pertaining to the Award.
  • Applicants acknowledge that DMITRE may distribute media releases to all media, who may request interviews of winners and finalists and their business.

How are the awards judged?

The awards are open to all companies engaged with exploration and/or production in the oil, gas, geothermal and mining sectors in South Australia

The judging panel comprises representatives from industry, government and community organisations.

The judges are looking for passion and demonstrated commitment by companies to improving social wellbeing and participation at the local and/or regional level, with a clear recognition of its ongoing importance to delivering sustainable resources projects.

The judging panel will make recommendations on the winning applicants to the Premier. The Premier’s decision on the winner of each award is final.

How to apply

The awards are open to all companies engaged with exploration and/or production in the oil, gas, geothermal and mining sectors in South Australia

Applicants are encouraged to apply online; however, hard copy application forms (PDF 142.4 kb)  may also be printed and completed. Please mark any hard copy applications as ‘confidential’ and send to:

A separate application form is provided for each of the two awards. A maximum word limit is placed against each criterion and applicants must ensure their application does not exceed this limit. 

Applicants are also provided the opportunity to attach three (3) supporting documents with their application – for example, evidence of programs and policies outlined in the submission. If these documents are of considerable length (i.e. more than 3 pages of full text), applicants must fill out the one (1) page summary sheet provided with entry forms and outline the key points for the judges.
