This CD contains the Raw Data from the deep crustal seismic survey carried out in 2003 and 2004 across the southern Curnamona Province in South Australia as a collaborative project between PIRSA Minerals & Energy Resources, Geoscience Australia (GA) and the predictive mineral discovery Cooperative Research Centre (pmd*CRC) using the facilities of the Australian National Seismic Imaging Resource (ANSIR).
Application of the seismic method is normally the domain of the petroleum industry it has been applied to regions such as the Yilgarn Craton (Western Australia), Mt Isa district (Queensland), Batten Trough (Northern Territory) and the Broken Hill Inlier (New South Wales).
The objective of the survey was to provide information on the crustal architecture and possible mineralisation controlling features of the southern Curnamona Province particularly in highly prospective Palaeo- and Mesoproterozoic rocks but also the overlying Neoproterozoic and Cambrian sequences, the deeper crust and major structural features that may have influenced hydrothermal fluid flow. Survey results also provide fundamental information relevant to exploration for geothermal energy.
The cost of the CD is AU$20 (inc. GST, AU$5 postage and handling). For more information, please contact:
