Cariewerloo Basin data release
The Cariewerloo Basin Data Release represents the technical component of over 18 months of collaborative work undertaken by the Geological Survey of South Australia and the Saskatchewan Geological Survey, Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources, Canada as part of a collaborative Memorandum of Understanding established in 2009.
The data release includes:
- detailed lithostratigraphic logging of 13 drillholes, petrophysical data and accompanying handheld Niton® XL3t XRF analyses for each drillhole
- 2.5D modelling of the internal stratigraphy of the Pandurra Formation, including top and base of the Pandurra and associated fault network
- HyLogger2TM summary diagrams and downhole mineralogy plots represented in 3D
- 3D modelling of mineralogy determined by HyLogger data
- basement modelling and multi-scale edges (worms) produced from the reduced to pole TMI data
- interpretation of AEM data flown over the Cariewerloo Basin; and accompanying literature are provided as part of the data release.
The Cariewerloo Basin AEM data
The final data and inversions for the Cariewerloo airborne electromagnetic (AEM) traverses have been released.
The Cariewerloo traverses comprise 600 km along four lines at irregular spacing west of the Flinders Ranges, aligning with previous drill holes and geological features of interest.
The data release for the Cariewerloo traverses includes:
- Phase-1 contractor supplied AEM data that has been quality-controlled and quality-assessed by Geoscience Australia, and includes final processed AEM window data, ancillary information and conductivitiy depth image (CDI) data derived using EM Flow™.
- Phase-2 comprising layered earth conductivity models derived using Geoscience Australia layered earch inversion (GA-LEI) data - includes both sample-by-sample and line-by-line inversion products.

The survey was undertaken to delineate the unconformity at the base of the Pandurra Formation.
