Seismogram
Seismogram of the Mount Barker earthquake recorded on near Adelaide monitoring networks
Time is given as Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) which is 9˝ hours behind South Australian time (10˝ hours behind during daylight saving).
P = Primary wave
The seismic wave with the highest velocity and therefore the first to be recorded on the seismogram
S = Shear wave (secondary wave)
The second direct arrival on the earthquake seismogram; S wave motion is perpendicular to the direction of wave propogation and travels slower in rock than the P wave
